Brisbane, QLD, 28 October 2019– Jonah’s Restaurant & Boutique Hotel, proudly won gold at the national awards presented by Restaurant and Catering with Savour Australia held at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves. The award for Best Tourism Restaurant in the country recognises venues from both major cities and rural areas who excel at catering for a range of clientele and support Australia’s ever-growing tourism industry.

“We are extremely honoured to receive this award. It is indeed a great accomplishment for the entire team here at Jonah’s. The passion and professionalism behind each team member has proven to pay off!”
– Niels Sluiman, Food & Beverage Director.

Jonah’s has been welcoming guests from near and far for the last 90 years since opening upon the clifftop overlooking Whale Beach in 1929. Guests who travel to Whale Beach, whether it’s by car, ferry or even seaplane, are seeking not only an incredible food and beverage offering, but an exceptional overall experience that is memorable and unique. The dedicated team at Jonah’s strives to deliver the feeling of a relaxing getaway, even for day trippers who are simply visiting for a leisurely lunch.

The award-winning wine list spanning 80 pages with over 1600 labels of Australian and International wines is something that visitors would be hard pressed to find elsewhere in the country or even the world. Expert sommeliers guide diners through a wine tasting journey that matches perfectly with each dish.

When talented Executive Chef Matteo Zamboni creates dishes for the various areas of the property including the main dining room, outdoor terrace, and room service menus, he takes the wide variety of clientele into careful consideration.

“At Jonah’s I am fortunate enough to be able to play an integral part in the special moments of our guests. We host many people who are celebrating special occasions such as anniversaries and weddings, but also international guests who may be visiting Australia for the first time. My goal is to showcase the best produce that this country has to offer through the finest seafood that is available to market each day, and fresh seasonal ingredients,” says Zamboni.

Also nominated for Australia’s Best Tourism Restaurant were prestigious properties including Mollymook’s Rick Stein at Bannisters, Darwin’s Snapper Rocks Bar & Kitchen, Brisbane’s Jellyfish Restaurant, Millicent’s Mayura Station’s Tasting Room, Bellarine’s Jack Rabbit Vineyard Restaurant, and Caversham’s Sandalford Wines Restaurant. The whole team at Jonah’s wishes a huge congratulations to all.
