Jonah’s 87th Birthday

Jonah’s Restaurant & Boutique Hotel celebrates 87th birthday

On Australia Day 2016, Jonah’s Restaurant & Boutique Hotel celebrated 87 years as an iconic Australian restaurant and hotel for locals and international travellers alike. Overlooking stunning Whale Beach, guests were spoilt with perfect weather and 180 degree panoramic ocean views.

This annual invite only event always includes prominent business heavy weights, sportsman, entertainers and retired politicians. This year’s list of attendees (including Bob Hawke, Blanche du’Alpuget, Ros Packer, John Brown, Peter & Donna Phelps, Dame Marie Bashir and Sir Nicholas Shehadie, Chris & Rose Ryder, Matt & Eydis Dunn and David & Bridget Kirk ), attended the annual celebratory event at New South Wales’ only Relais and Chateaux hotel property.

Guests were treated to a luxury spread of quintessentially Australian inspired food from Executive Chef Logan Campbell with highlights including Coopers beer battered soft shell crab, Jonah’s “Chiko” rolls, Eastern Rock lobster from NSW, and Campbell’s own style of Tim Tam tarts, Lamingtons, Iced Vo Vos and chocolate crackles. These were accompanied by Champagne Taittinger Brut Reserve NV and a selection of some of Australia’s finest wines from Sommelier Luke Collard.

The entertainment was truly patriotic with one of Australia’s most famous bush poets, Murray Hartin, reciting three of his poems, including Rain from nowhere, star on the rise Ashleigh Rubenach performing Advance Australia Fair and Bob Hawke leading all the guests in singing Waltzing Matilda.
